For many of us who have histories of child sexual abuse, becoming parents is filled with mixed emotions. We are often equal parts excited and fearful; joyous and trepidatious; delighted and anxious. We fear our children will be abused in ways similar to our own experiences. We worry we won’t be able to protect them.
Apart from that, however, we experience emotions around our changing bodies that aren’t always pleasant. We can also often have difficulties engaging, and communicating with, professionals.
As a doula who specialises in working with women who were sexually abused as children, I am here to help. I can help you unpack your emotions and your experiences, as well as give you tools to work with your other birth professionals. I’m happy to work with you on your birth plan, discuss your options, attend your birth (during Covid restrictions, however, I can only attend home births), and attend after the birth as well.
Please feel free to get in touch with me to discuss your needs.
